Storånå

Watercolours gives the river stretch special lighting effects enhancing the streaming water, with reflecting illumination on the embankments.

Storånå river – a live, flowing, ever-changing sculpture.
Storånå was ducted for many years, covered by concrete and asphalt at the river mouth in the Vågen bay area. Opening on the 11th January 2008.

It is now to become an open river and yet again be an active element in the rehabilitation of urban Sandnes.

Storånå river is an integral, illuminated element of the Watercolours project. It’s embankments close to Vågen will display spectacular ambient light effects. The lighting on the water surface will be reflected on the river embankments and portray the water's movement. The same lighting will be applied on the new parts of the river as soon as it opens. This way, the installation will increase in both size and effect over time, as a part of the new riverpark in Sandnes.
